Hwaseong is one of the few UNESCO sites in Korea that is arguably better after dark. The walls, the gates and the watchtowers are floodlit, the crowds that fill the ramparts on a Saturday afternoon have gone home, and the wall walk turns into a quiet two-hour circuit above a lit-up city.
This four-hour evening tour is the only dedicated Hwaseong night tour in the GetYourGuide catalogue. It is the version of the fortress most day-trippers never see. The walls, gates and watchtowers are floodlit, the ramparts are close to empty after dark, and the view down over a lit Suwon from the wall above Paldalmun is the picture people come back with. The trade-off is that you see the masonry detail and the surrounding landscape far better by day.
How long does the night tour take?
About four hours from the Myeongdong meeting point back to Seoul, which makes it the shortest Hwaseong tour on offer. Most full-day Suwon itineraries run nine to eleven hours.
Where do I meet the guide?
